Oncidium is a genus that contains about 330 species of orchids from the subtribe Oncidiinae of the orchid family. Common names for plants in this genus include dancing-lady orchid and golden shower orchid.
Oncostele Wildcat ‘Golden Red Star’ are Floriferous, branching bloom spikes of rich red flowers . Golden yellow petal tips. Pseudobulbs are distinctively plump and round. Each new growth produces 1-2 inflorescences of several flowers. There can be well over 50 flowers per flower spike.
Oncidiums are a delight to grow especially for those who have limited space. They have flowers that come mainly in the yellow-brown range but of late with a lot of intergenic coming into the market, it is easy to acquire almost any colour you can think of. If grown under suitable conditions, they can bloom several times a year.
